The grant contribed to my Bachelor of Music Degree
The Sir Thomas White grant contributed to my Bachelor of Music Degree at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
With the Charities help, I have been supported in my studies at Birmingham Conservatoire whose recent Graduates include Laura Mvula and Rhydian Roberts. I used a substantial part of the funding to produce a CD for my major project. This was a great success and I received an excellent mark from my tutors for this which enabled me to gain a 2:1.
Whilst at the college, I have had the privilege to be cast in many of their major productions, In 2015 I performed the title role in the Conservatoire's Summer opera Actéon. The lead tenor role of ‘Dave’ in the Conservatoire's spring production of Michael Wolters' world premiere of Ava’s Wedding, not to mention a number of roles in previous years spring productions and opera scenes and a lead role in the 2016 production.
The Conservatoire has taught me how to perform to large audiences and how to be a better musician and furthermore given me the opportunity to look into a professional career in music and the ability to make it a reality
A small portion of the grant I received I also put towards a successful audition for the Masters Course at the Royal Academy of Music which I will take up in September
